Petitioners Clear First Hurdle in Cherries Trade Cases

On June 6, 2019, the U.S. International Trade Commission unanimously determined that there is a reasonable indication that U.S. dried tart cherry producers are materially injured by reason of unfairly traded imports of dried tart cherries from Turkey.


Schagrin Associates brought the petition on behalf of the Dried Tart Cherry Trade Committee, a group of U.S. producers.


As a result of the USITC's affirmative vote, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue its investigation into the amount of dumping and subsidization--the next step to obtaining offsetting tariffs to level the playing field by correcting the market-distorting effects of dumped and subsidized imports
